Make Something: Fall Felt Foliage

I work in an office without windows.
I have a door that opens into a lobby that has windows, but to get a good look at what's going on outside, it requires a lot of chair scooting and neck craning.
Point: I don't get to enjoy the fall color as much as I'd like to, especially with this dark by 4:30 p.m. business.

I needed a little seasonal pick-me-up at home to make up for it the inconveniences.
This would be a cute centerpiece, or look divine as just a pop in a corner.

1. Find some small branches. Make it fun ... go on a walk around the neighborhood!

2. Pluck off any unwanted twigs, and gather the branches into a bundle you find appealing. Secure with twine.

3.  Position the branch bundle in the vase (I pushed it into a piece of floral foam first,) and add the decorative rocks over top to keep everything vertical.

4. Cut your felt into leaf-like shapes. I used fall colors red, yellow and orange.

5. Hot glue the felt leaves onto your branches. I chose to attach two per twig, which made for a cute little heart shape, and also hid any hot glue gunk.

  3. I love the felt "heart" leaves and how you wrapped the branches in twine. It's on my list to make a "thankful" tree this year... these are great inspirational add-to-it ideas - thanks!
